- Approval of Vamorolone Licensed by SinoMedica
According to the public notice on the official website of the National Medical Products Administration of China, the marketing application for the oral suspension of the steroid drug Vamorolone submitted by SinoMedica has been approved. Vamorolone is an innovative drug. It has the same receptor – binding mechanism as glucocorticoids but modifies its downstream activity. It will not cause local tissue expansion and corticosteroid – related toxicity in local tissues, showing the potential to “separate” efficacy from hormone safety issues. It is expected to bring a safer treatment option for patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
- Estuarine Environment Research by South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences
The research team led by Xu Xiangrong from the Key Laboratory of Tropical Marine Bio – resources and Ecology, South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, made the latest research progress in the multi – media distribution characteristics and source – sink patterns of steroid hormones and their metabolites in estuarine environments. The research results were published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials under the title “Steroid metabolites as overlooked emerging contaminants: Insights from multi – media partitioning and source–sink simulation in an estuarine environment”. For the first time, this study adopted in – situ investigation and model simulation methods to explore the spatial – temporal distribution, distribution behavior, and source – sink patterns of various steroid hormones and their metabolites in estuarine environments. It provided new insights into the multi – media distribution processes and environmental fates of steroid hormones and their metabolites in estuarine environments, and could provide important support for formulating comprehensive environmental management policies for steroid hormone pollution in estuaries.
